Art Psychotherapy
Welcome to the Art Psychotherapy section of the Practice-based Learning support website.
MSc Art Psychotherapy
Every student completing the MSc Art Psychotherapy at Queen Margaret University undertakes 2 x 40 credit placement modules during their training period. There are approximately 114 days of placement learning in total, with 90 days carried out on site with a placement organisation and 24 days of university-based learning to support the placement work. We link with services in the third sector, local authorities, independent sector and in the NHS to provide a range of practice-based learning experiences.
Placements happen in a variety of settings: schools, hospitals, prisons, counselling services, day care services and more. Students work with people across the lifespan - with preschool children and older adults. In these settings, professionals from a range of backgrounds provide support and supervision for Art Psychotherapy learners.
This web resource is here to support all involved in the process of supporting our students on practice placement.
At Queen Margaret University there is a team of qualified Art Psychotherapists who work closely with students, supervising and assessing placements from the Art Psychotherapy perspective. We are always keen to connect with the people who are currently, and potentially, involved in these placements.
