Stan鈥檚 initial training was as an Industrial Chemist at Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. Upon graduation, Stan proceeded on the mandatory one-year national youth service (NYSC) program during which he taught Chemistry, Mathematics and Integrated Science to secondary school students. On completion of youth service, Stan had a brief stint with First Bank of Nigeria Plc before moving to the United Kingdom to complete an MSc in Environmental Protection & Management 鈥 a choice motivated in part by 鈥淎n Inconvenient Truth鈥 (yes, the movie). In the UK, Stan earned further degrees in business management and entrepreneurship before completing a PhD in Sociology and Sustainable Development. As a student, Stan worked in several sectors of the UK economy including hospitality, healthcare and banking.
Stan draws extensively from these experiences but identifies as a social entrepreneur with keen interest in sustainable development, environmental sustainability, municipal waste management and sanitation systems in developing country settings.
Research Overview:
My research focuses mainly on sustainable systems 鈥 consumption, production, integrated sustainable waste management; circular economy, (role of) social entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship; alternative business models; informal waste pickers, poverty and inequalities.

Stan teaches several modules and topics that cut across and examine the interactions between social policies and societies, and the resultant social movements that are birthed as a result of inequalities and societal injustices.
