Dr Taiwo Frances Gbadegesin is a Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education within the Psychology, Sociology and Education division.
She is also an Associate Member of the Centre for Applied Social Sciences.
She holds a bachelor's degree in economic education, and earned her master's and doctorate degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, Nigeria, and the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, respectively.
Her PhD research examines early childhood education stakeholders’ shared meaning-making of quality education in Nigeria. She held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of the Free State in South Africa, where she conducted interdisciplinary research on childhood, housing, and the environment.
Before joining Queen Margaret University in 2022, she held academic posts at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria.
Dr Gbadegesin is an early career researcher with research interests in the following areas:
- Quality education in the early years
- Children’s rights
- Children's subjective wellbeing
- Refugee and migrant children’s integration
- Comparative and international education
- Gender and inclusive practices in education
Research Methods:

- Dr Gbadegesin is particularly interested in qualitative methods, interdisciplinary and cross-national approaches.
Dr Gbadegesin teaches early childhood, psychology, and comparative and international education modules. She also serves as the module coordinator. She teaches on the following topics:
