Undergraduate Funding
Here we provide guidance on funding for Scottish students, students from the rest of the UK and students from the Republic of Ireland. (Find out more about funding for EU and international students.)
Students from Scotland
If you are a first degree student and ordinarily resident in Scotland, you are eligible for your tuition fees to be paid by the Scottish Government by applying to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS).
Tuition fees
Full-time Scottish domiciled students must apply for the payment of their tuition fees each year. You will need to complete an online application by the required deadline with SAAS.听
You can make your funding application from April听onwards. We advise you to make your application early and by 30 June to ensure that your funding is in place for the start of your course.
Student loans and bursaries
Student loans are the main source of support towards living costs although Young Student Bursary & Independent Student Bursary support may also be available depending on household income.

EU citizens who have been resident in Scotland for three or more years (not for the purposes of full-time education) and have settled or pre-settled status may be eligible for home fee status and living cost support. Please consult the for further information.
Undergraduate nursing students from Scotland
Students that study a Nursing degree program will receive a non-repayable, non means tested bursary as living cost support. From September 2020 this will be听拢10,000 per year for years 1-3 of the program, in year 4 this will reduce to 拢7,500. Students apply to SAAS for this support.
Care Experienced Students
If you are under 26 at the start of your undergraduate course and have been in the care of a Local Authority, you will be eligible to apply for a bursary of 拢8,100 per year. If you apply for and meet the criteria to receive the Care Experienced Bursary of 拢8,100, you will not be eligible to apply for a student loan.

Students from England
Tuition fee loans
England domiciled students can apply to the Student Finance England for a tuition fee loan up to the full cost of their programme of study. This Tuition Fee Loan is paid directly to the University.
Student living cost loans
Maintenance loans for living cost are available to students who are due to start their studies (maintenance grants are no longer available). Further information about loans for students who live in England can be found on the .听

Tuition fees
Welsh domiciled students can apply to the Student Finance Wales for a tuition fee loan up to the full cost of their programme of study. This Tuition Fee Loan is paid directly to the University.
Living cost grants and loans
Student Finance Wales supports student living costs through Maintenance Loans. Maintenance Grants are also available to students, depending on household income.

Students from Northern Ireland

Students from Republic of Ireland
Tuition Fees
The Scottish Government has confirmed that undergraduate students from the Republic of Ireland who commence their studies from 2021/22 will have the same fee status as students from the rest of the UK, excluding Scotland. This means that full time students from the Republic of Ireland starting an honours programme will be required to pay fees for the first three years of study which will be 拢9250 per annum. No fee will be charged in year four.

Living Costs
SAAS will provide no support for living costs. Living cost support that may be available will come from the funding authorities in Ireland.
